Accreditation
Sofia University is a legitimate university recognized by both the United States and the Chinese Ministry of Education. The university has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges-Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), which is the highest level of accreditation for universities in the western region. Other institutions such as Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, and University of California, Los Angeles have also received this accreditation.

On-Campus Attendance Frequency
Students are required to attend the campus once a month, totaling three times per semester. Classes are held on Saturdays or Sundays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the remaining coursework conducted online.
Note: In the first semester of the MSCS program, attendance frequency will be slightly higher, with students required to attend the campus twice a month.
GPA Requirement
During the course of study, students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. Failure to meet this requirement will result in termination of Full-time CPT. Additionally, students who maintain a GPA below 3.0 for two consecutive semesters will face dismissal from the university.
CPT Application Timeline
Students who have already obtained a degree in the United States can begin using CPT from the first day of classes. CPT applications are submitted once per semester. The university takes approximately two weeks to approve CPT applications, so students are advised to submit their applications at least two weeks before the start of classes. It’s important to note that students must receive an I-20 with CPT authorization and wait for the CPT start date specified on the I-20 before legally starting work! If changing employers, students must contact the university to reapply for CPT and update their I-20 accordingly.
CPT Approval Requirements for F-1 students
（1）Must remain in good academic standing, 3.0 GPA or above.
（2）Must have an employment/training offer related to their major area of study.
（3）Must have a specific job/internship offer.
（4）Must complete and submit a Request for CPT Form, job offer letter and a Cooperative Agreement Form each academic quarter.
The Requirements for the Employer Letter
(1) Written on company letterhead (including company logo and name at the top of the page)
(2) Include job title
(3) Provide a detailed job description that is related to the student’s field of study
(4) Include the employer’s detailed address (street, city, state, and zip code) and contact information (phone number and email).
(5) Specify whether the job is full-time or part-time
(6) Provide the employer’s EIN Number or E-Verify ID
(7) Specify the detailed start and end dates of the CPT employment (CPT authorization cannot exceed one year)
(8) The CPT start date cannot be earlier than the start date of the semester

Program Start Date
Sofia University has four quarters each year. Students attend classes for three consecutive quarters and have one quarter off, during which they can also engage in full-time CPT. The start dates for the 2024-2025 academic year are as follows:
